This event, taking place in Mexico City, is a great opportunity to explore the capital. We invite you to enjoy the city with your family. Activities will be offered for those who do not participate in the daytime programming. Depending ticket type, these activities and dinners will be an additional fee.

Please note that a passport is mandatory to reach Mexico City.

Mexico City is on U.S. Mountain Time.

OUR TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Bring your passport and a copy: Leave your passport in your room's safe and keep the copy with you.
  • Cell Phone Service: Check your phone service for international service and data, and make sure you have data roaming turned on as well.

  • Ambassador's Residence Event - Wednesday Evening: To enter, you will need the QR code emailed later to this email address & a Driver's License - for anyone under 16, please bring a passport as ID. Without an ID, you can not attend.

  • Dress code for the Ambassador's Residence Event - Wednesday EveningPlease plan to be business casual to business. Ties or a sport coat are a nice addition for men/encouraged. Women are good in business casual to business attire, and sandals are ok. Please do not wear jeans, shorts, sneakers, sandals for men, or flip flops.

  • Airport Transportation: It is highly unadvisable to take Uber from the airport. The local Taxi union has made it very difficult to get Ubers, and the pick-up location is in a bad area and hard to get to. You can Uber to the airport, but not from the airport for now. Taxi stands at the airport are a flat rate and safe to use. Look for one of the four stands where you will pre-pay for your trip, and the staff will take you to the taxi (as soon as you get through customs, outside the doors, the booths will be there.)
    • Yellow Cab: Known for its reliable and safe service.
    • Sitio 300: Offers taxi services inside and outside the airport.
    • Nueva Imagen: An option for safe and efficient transfers.
    • Comfort: Taxi services focused on passenger comfort.
    • Porto Taxi: Specializes in executive transfers.
  •  Hotel Transportation: Your hotel can also provide transportation to/from the airport.
  • Bank/Exchanging Money: Let your bank and credit card company know that you are going to be out of the country. Bank Santander has a good exchange rate and an ATM at the airport that is safe. Would recommend taking out a few hundred US dollars in Pesos (exchange rate is $19.50 MX pesos per $1.00 USD). Some vendors do not take credit cards.
  • Leave your valuables at home: Please leave luxury watches and nice jewelry (engagement rings) at home. This will make you less likely to be a target of thieves and help you experience Mexico City.

  • Water: Please do not drink tap water; filtered water is pretty available.
  • Weather: It has been rainy in the afternoon lately, bring an umbrella or a rain jacket.

    • Highs have been in the mid-70s, and lows at night have gotten into the mid-50s.
    • Elevation of Mexico City is 7,349'.
    • Reference - Houston is 79', Dallas/Austin - 490', El Paso - 3,740'.
  • Excursions dress code: Comfortable shoes (high heels not allowed), comfortable clothing (jeans and long pants recommended), light sweater. An umbrella or raincoat in case of rain, bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
