Excursion 1: Global Wafers Site View and Tour

Come view America's semiconductor renaissance in action by touring the first 300mm advanced silicon wafer facility built in the U.S. in over 25 years. The essential starting material for chip fabrication, silicon wafers are the semiconductor foundation for the devices that power modern life, found only here in Sherman's Silicon Prairie.

Experience Grayson College’s Career and Technical Center and discover how education and industry come together to prepare the region’s workforce. Guests will tour hands-on learning labs, learn about career and technical programs aligned with high-demand occupations, and see how students gain the skills and experience needed to move from the classroom into successful careers. The visit will also highlight the important role partnerships with education, business, and industry play in building a strong talent pipeline for our region.

Be Pro Be Proud introduces students to high-demand careers in the skilled trades through immersive virtual reality experiences, heavy equipment simulators, and interactive exhibits that bring the construction industry to life. By providing hands-on exposure to these essential professions, the program helps students discover rewarding career opportunities they may not have previously considered while addressing critical workforce needs across Texas. Through our "Join The Movement" platform, students can explore personalized pathways that align with their goals, whether that means enrolling in a technical school, pursuing a college program, or entering the workforce immediately after high school. The platform also connects students with employers actively seeking motivated, career-ready talent, creating a direct link between education and employment. Together, these experiences empower the next generation with the knowledge, resources, and industry connections needed to build successful careers while strengthening Texas's future workforce.

Excursion 4: Austin College Tour

Explore Austin College with a walking tour of campus! Led by an Austin College student, let curiosity be your guide as you experience life as a member of ’Roo Nation. Highlights include the IDEA Center, Wright Campus Center, Ida Green Communication Center, Hopkins Center, and the Abell Library. The tour should last approximately 45 minutes to one hour. It will start/end in the Wright Campus Center Lobby.
